Why we are changing how AI credits work, and how you can help

A detailed review of our AI costs has confirmed something we need to be open about. HumanDesign.AI has been spending considerably more on premium AI models than the platform generates in revenue, and that gap has been widening for months.

Rather than let it continue, we have made an adjustment. This post sets out plainly what has changed, what has not, and how you can help if you would like to.

What changed

Lifetime members have been receiving a monthly allowance of AI credit, $25 a month on Pro Lifetime and $5 a month on Personal Lifetime. As of this week, that monthly top-up has stopped.

Nobody’s membership has been reduced. Every feature, every tool, and full access to the platform stays exactly as it was. Any credit already sitting in a balance remains there and works as before. We have not taken anything back.

What this affects, and what it doesn’t

The monthly credit was only ever spent on two things: premium report generations and the premium AI models in chat. Those are the only things affected.

The standard chat model stays completely free for everybody, with no balance required and no cap. We recently upgraded it to Claude Haiku 4.5, which made it noticeably sharper and more useful. That upgrade costs the platform considerably more per conversation, and we are still absorbing every penny of it rather than passing it on. That is not changing.

Why it had to change

Premium AI models bill us every single time they run. Not once a month, not per member, but per generation. When a platform gives away a monthly allowance against a one-time payment, the maths only ever goes one way, and for us it has been going that way for a while.

Across our Lifetime members alone, absorbing unlimited access has cost the business more than $150,000 in AI credits. We never mentioned it, because we wanted people to have the best of what we could build. But if we don’t balance this now, there is no platform to argue about. I would rather make one honest adjustment than quietly degrade the quality until nobody notices what was lost.

Why the mission matters more now

Interest in Human Design continues to grow, and more people are looking for tools that genuinely help them understand themselves. We want what we build to be properly good, and available to everybody rather than only to those who can afford the most expensive tier. Making it fair and making it sustainable turn out to be the same problem.

And none of this is us pulling back. We have kept investing the whole way through, and Builder, which lets you stand up your own practitioner website in minutes, is about to roll out.

How you can help

You don’t have to do anything at all. But a number of people have asked how they can support the platform through this, and this is the honest answer: right now every credit top-up is doubled.

You pay once, you get twice the credit, and the money goes straight into keeping the AI running. It is the most direct way to help, and you get something real back for it rather than simply donating into a hole.

Credit lands in your balance as soon as payment clears, it never expires, and there is no subscription attached to any of it. You only ever spend it on what you actually use.

And if not, that is completely fine

Nobody’s membership changes either way. The people who backed this platform early did so before it had proved much of anything, and that is not something we will forget regardless of whether anyone spends another penny.

But people asked how to help, and this is the way. It keeps the lights on without me having to charge everybody more.

Thank you, truly.
